Whether you’re preparing to sell your home or just want to spruce it up, consider how it looks to passersby. A home should be welcoming and inviting, and having beautiful curb appeal is a great way to accomplish this. Here are three ways to improve the curb appeal of your home:

1. Update your front entry door. “We have numerous styles to choose from,” explained Karen Wood, Outside Sales Representative, Alexander Lumber Cortland. “First you have to consider the age and style of your home. Door options range from classic to contemporary, and it can be a little overwhelming.” Wood recommends Therma-Tru doors in fiberglass or steel. “If you want the look of wood but need an energy-efficient door that will last, then consider the Therma-Tru Classic Craft or Fiber Classic,” she said. “These have a wood grain and can be stained. If you prefer a painted front door, Therma-Tru offers the Smooth Star collection, some of which have clear glass or specialty glass options. Doors with glass bring in more natural light and can brighten a dark entryway.” Buyers can finish the doors themselves, hire a painter, or take advantage of Therma-Tru’s refinishing service with stain or paint.

2. Replace the siding on your home. “New siding can literally transform your home,” said Wood. “Alexander Lumber offers LP SmartSide, which is easy to handle and install. It comes in 16 expert colors and can be finished with any custom color as well. It can have a cedar texture to mimic real wood, or it can have a smooth finish.” LP SmartSide also offers lap siding, trim and fascia, shakes, panel and vertical siding, and soffit material.

3. Accessorize! Adding large urns with outdoor or faux greenery, an inviting welcome mat, and a pretty wreath will add to the beauty of your front entry.
