Alexander Lumber Co. is on the Grow and is looking to expand its contractor sales force.

The Outside Sales Rep (OSR) will focus on new business development by selling Alexander Lumber Co.’s full range of Building Materials products to customers and contractors in an assigned territory. The OSR will be working with and selling to contractors by meeting with them, understanding their needs, and recommending a solution that helps the customer grow. Responsibilities:

  • Generating new revenue through closing sales by acquiring new business customers and growing existing customers.
  • Educate customers on ALCO’s product lines in assigned territory.
  • Design proposals and estimates, and respond in a timely manner to Requests for Proposals.
  • Present the proposal and product demonstrations in a professional manner.
  • Track sales activity and prospects.

The General Manager position will need to plan, direct, and coordinate all daily functions of a Lumber Yard. Duties and responsibilities include purchasing materials, establishing pricing, work with corporate office to formulate policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials, and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Directs and coordinates activities of business and departments concerned with production, pricing, sales, and distribution of lumber.
  2. Manage staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
  3. Evaluate job performances of office and yard personnel.
  4. Understand Profit & Loss and budgeting.
  5. Implement company policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.
  6. Coordinate all advertising and sales promotions with assistant yard manager District Manager.
  7. Provide sales assistance and service to customers.
  8. Assist customers in yard and/or store as needed, making sure all customers are treated properly with the highest level of customer service at all times.
  9. Be aware of and resolve all customer complaints.
  10. Be familiar with all estimates/quotes being done and make sure they are being priced out correctly.
  11. Learn and maintain a firm understanding of all back office procedures (i.e. bookkeeping, banking, payroll, waivers, etc.)
  12. Always be looking for new products or sources to purchase from. Be aware of corporate buying policies.
  13. Determines goods and services to be sold, and the movement of goods into and out of yard.
  14. Perform sale floor work such as greeting and assisting customers, stocking shelves, and taking customer orders.
  15. Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees and oversee the performance of personnel.
  16. Any other responsibility that management deems necessary.

JOB Qualifications AND REQIUREMENTS

  1. HS Diploma or GED required, College or trade school preferred.
  2. Construction or Lumber knowledge helpful.
  3. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.
  1. Ability to work independently and to think and resolve problems.
  2. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
  3. This position is subject to pre-employment and reasonable-suspicion drug screening and background check.

  • Educate customers on Alexander Lumber Co’s product offering
  • Prepare accurate and timely material estimates, professional presentation, timely follow through
  • Order products, schedule deliveries to coincide with customer needs

Find solutions to various issues that may arise.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Contractor Sales Experience Required
  • Experience in the Building Material’s industry.
  • Organized, accurate, good attention to detail
  • Background in wood construction and framing with engineered wood components
  • Effective communication of technical sales/design issues to Customers and Contractors
  • Customer service minded
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and insurance.
